7 Smart Ways to Use Technology in Your Class

10/07/2020
  1. Something boring on paper is still boring on a tablet or laptop.
  2. How tech teaches is as important as what is taught.
  3. Let students sometimes be the teacher.
  4. Find technology that lets kids learn from themselves and each other.
  5. Rather than ban phones or YouTube, educators should find smart ways to use them.
  6. Adults should serve as champions of digital citizenship.
  7. Give kids some space to cultivate their own interests. Google had a 20% policy. It lets the amount of work done be 20% of what they are passionate about. When students follow their interests for an hour a week they use creativity, have choice, and share their voice. They end up building tin-can robots after watching YouTube videos or creating and editing their own movies. It gives students ownership in their learning.
